Are You Tech Savvy Enough to Make Money Online?

There is a large group of people who count themselves out of online moneymaking opportunities simply because they don’t feel as if they know enough about technology, computers and the internet. The truth is, though, that it doesn’t take someone with a computer science degree to take advantage of such opportunities—it simply takes a person who has basic computer skills and a general knowledge of the internet to be successful. If you feel that you may be under qualified or unable to make cash through one of the many prospects currently offered via the web, then consider these points:

Not all opportunities are for techies and computer wiz’s.

Though at one time many of the ways available to make money online were specifically geared towards computer know-it-alls, now the vast majority of the opportunities are geared specifically towards average computer users—that means you. As this technology has become more and more widely available throughout the world, designers have made it their priority to enable just about anyone over the age of five to be able to navigate through the cyber world using a computer. You don’t need to spend hours upon hours making yourself acquainted with cutting edge computer technologies when websites are making everything user-friendly. Instead, dedicate that time to learning your trade, whatever that might be, and let the tech big shots deal with everything else.

    Got a new/newish computer? You’re almost there!

The main consideration to dwell upon when thinking about online moneymaking and your own knowledge of technology is having a good computer. What is a good computer? Simply put, a good computer is new (not refurbished), has all of the up-to-date programs (including virus protection and spyware), and has a decent processor. If you plan to go computer shopping, then make a list of all of the electronic stores in your area, and hit them all up for prices and deals. More likely than not, at least one of the stores will be interested in matching their competitor’s prices just to get your business. And if you’re wanting to know how much to spend, consider this: $300 is far too little, and $1300 is way too much. For a good desktop computer, expect to spend anywhere from $800-$1100. Watch for sales, though, as computers are constantly being sold at discounted prices.

The job is more important than the technology.

Depending upon the line of work you are interested in, the amount of tech skills you actually need will vary. For instance, if you work online as a tutor in math, then your math skills are much more important than your computer know-how. If you are good at what you do, then the technology shouldn’t be a barrier for you making the jump into the online world.

        You learn as you go.

Although you may not know much about computers and the web, the more you immerse yourself the more you learn. Don’t pass over online moneymaking opportunities simply because you feel as if it may be over your head—if you are qualified enough to take the position, then you are smart enough to be able to learn what you need. Keep an open mine and enjoy the new experience!
